The best way to live a great life without regret is to live every moment and not in the future or the past. So everyday I will post one tip in which you can work on every day, and don’t worry if this doesn’t come easy. If you find yourself falling back into the old illusions of past and future, just recognize it and keep trying. The fact that you even recognize it is a step in the right direction. So on the right side of this blog, you will find a tip of the day section in which I will be posting the tips. If you have any suggestions on being more present and more conscious please feel free to email me or comment below.

From the creators of the critically acclaimed and personal favorite album of 2009 Bitte Orca comes a new single from Dirty Projectors titled “Gun Has No Trigger”. The new album is set to be released through Domino this spring so have a first taste and don’t forget to buy the album when it drops. If you’ve never heard of Dirty Projectors before…you are in for a treat. Catch them live if you have a chance, you won’t be disappointed.

When I was in middle school, I will unashamedly admit that i was a huge blink 182 fan, not just because of the catchy teen angst lyrics but mostly because of the insane drumming of Travis Barker. Well Years later, and many musical obsessions later, I found that Travis was not the best drummer known to mankind. A silly thought to begin with, I know… but the drums are the heartbeat of a song, the rhythmic pounding that makes you move your head and air drum on your desk.

Especially that one part in Eric Clapton’s Phil  Collins In The Air Tonight…you know what I’m talking about. I’ve almost wrecked numerous times drumming that one part on my steering wheel :/

Although, I will not pretend that I started out listening to Led Zeppelin and Rush, I came into them on my own (and by that i mean…staying up late nights watching VH1 Classic and Headbangers Ball after my parents had gone to bed) and found that I had only scraped the top of what would be a world of amazing drummers.

So for those of you unfamiliar with John Bonham, Danny Carey, or Ginger Baker..let me just say, your mind is about to be blown. Let’s start with my all time favorite…Neil Peart

Now that you have had your mind blow, here is a playlist of my top 15 favorite classic drum solos/performances in a song (+ my top 10 favorite modern drummers)

*These are MY favorite drummers, love it or hate it, it’s what i enjoy, if you disagree well that’s great. Comment or send me hate mail but i’m not a drummer, just a lover of music and whatever makes me tap my feet*

In no particular order. [to download right click mp3 and save as...]

So as the title says, Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff. Too often we stress out over things that probably won’t matter a year, a month, or even a few hours from now and for what?

Worrying, though sometimes inevitable, never helps anything. So stop it! You’re alive and Life is so beautiful. Just breathe and remember how short our time here on this little rock called Earth is. Love life and all that comes with it, the good, the bad, and everything in between.

…But if that’s not enough convincing, hopefully these 24 uplifting indie tracks about life will help. I won’t say that I’m happy 24/7 and that I take my own advice but when that advice is put into song, it tends to be more clear to me. And I hope it can do the same for you :) Happy Listening!

All the way from Dublin, Ireland comes the fun sounds of a great new up and coming band by the name of Land Lovers. The Land Lovers are 5 members strong (Cooney, Ciarain Canavan, Brian Lynch, Cormac Hughes, and Shane Murphy) who make indie pop music of the feel good variety. They launched their new album Confidants through Popical Island at the end of September with great reception and glowing reviews from within the indie music community. Tracks from the new album have gained airplay throughout the UK and Ireland by the likes of BBC Radio 6, BBC Radio 1, Today FM, and various college radio stations. Even the album artwork was voted best Irish Artwork in 2011 by WeAreNoise.com (check it out here).

So without much ado, stream the entire album, Confidants, below and check out the video + a free download for the track “The Cinema Bell”

If you could create your own music festival with whatever bands you wanted, still around or not, who would be in it? I recently thought about this question while listening to a live version of Trenchtown Rock by Bob Marley & The Wailers and decided it would make an interesting post/playlist. After racking my brain for clever or witty titles i settled on A Feel Good Concert because all of these live songs are basically centered around a theme of feeling better and after all whether you’re sitting in a jazz lounge sipping on a martini or diving into a moshpit…being at a great concert is a great pick me up. Not only do you get to see (and hopefully meet) your favorite band live but you get to meet others who share your same love of music and in those few hours there is always a moment where all your worries and stress disappear and it’s truly just you and the music. I live for those moments.

So in tribute to that, Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you …A Feel Good Concert.

[Btw, This list is all over the place genre wise but who ever said good music was genre-specific?]
